Muscat, Oman, May 1

We are back in Muscat, Oman today.  This large automobile freighter arrived this morning and is emptying out thousands of brand new cars and vans and even a few backhoes.  Lots of money around here.

Then up for a leisurely breakfast on the rear deck.  That is our favorite spot for breakie.

Our breakfast entertainment was watching this container ship tied up next to us being loaded by the gantry crane.  We never get tired of being "sidewalk superintendants", or I guess that should be "deck superintentants".

Then it was off to the Souk (bazaar) for a serious shopping excursion.  Peggy bought the orange hat.  I did not buy men's headgear.

Now, we are back on the ship heading off for lunch.  Think I will have the chilled cream of pineapple soup for starters.  We get the menu every day in our room, and it is good fun looking it over, especially when hungry.

It is 35 degrees here today and sunny but we have encountered a few drops of rain in the past few days. Nothing that stoppped any activity except 2 pool deck parties. Rain is very rare in the desert but not for our ship. The cruise director is now giving us the weather forecast with a giant shrug. Last night we had a downpour in Fujairah just before we left. It would have filled all those wadis. This pictue is the parking lot, even though it looks like the ocean.

Cheers, P&G
